Next week in the House priority will be given to the remaining stages of the Immigration Amendment Bill, the completion of the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Bill, and the first reading of the Judicial Matters Bill. Wednesday is a membersβ day.
I want to confirm with the Leader of the House that there will no urgency during this session. I wonder whether he might give us some indication of when he would expect to progress the New Organisms and Other Matters Bill, which I understand is due to be reported back to the House about 9 September.
Yes, I can confirm that there is no intention at this point to take any urgency in this 4-week period, barring any untoward judicial decisions that might occur between now and the end of it. I anticipate getting the second reading of the Organisms and Other Matters Bill done in this 4-week session, but probably there will not be a great deal more progress than that.
