🗣️ Speech Hon Sir Michael Cullen (New Zealand Labour Party — List Member)
Time unknown

I move, That the House congratulate the Alinghi syndicate on winning the America’s Cup on 2 March 2003, in Auckland, from Team New Zealand; over the course of the challenger and defender series, Alinghi proved itself to be the best syndicate; its success was deserved.

I also move, That the House acknowledge the hard work and efforts of the whole team at Team New Zealand; they faced the unenviable task of rebuilding the syndicate in the wake of a successful defence in 2000. While unsuccessful this year, a new team has been built that is capable of making a strong challenge to the America’s Cup when the next regatta is held.

Motions agreed to.
