📋 We've linked this vote to our
“Banning corporal punishment of children”
policy - our best judgment is that a vote for this is a vote
for Banning corporal punishment of children.
✓ Passed by a narrow margin
(70 Ayes – 51 Noes)
Hansard recorded how individual MPs from New Zealand First Party, New Zealand National Party, and United Future New Zealand voted,
but only a single party-wide total for everyone else. That pattern usually means
New Zealand First Party, New Zealand National Party, and United Future New Zealand allowed a conscience vote while the other parties
whipped a single position.
