← All policiesRemoves the "four well-beings" purpose clause (social, economic, environmental, cultural) from local government law, which the last Labour government reinstated in 2019 after an earlier National government had removed a similar clause in 2012. Replaces it with a purpose statement focused on core infrastructure and services - roads, water, waste, public transport, libraries and the like - alongside new council performance-reporting and benchmarking requirements.
