Business of the House — Business Statement

Today, the House will adjourn until Tuesday, 15 September. That week, the House will make progress on the Local Government (System Improvements) Amendment Bill, the Oranga Tamariki (Responding to Serious Youth Offending) Amendment Bill, and the Policing Amendment Bill. Celia Wade-Brown, Maureen Pugh, and the Hon Andrew Bayly will deliver their valedictory statements.

I thank the Leader of the House for the update. We’ve been told by a couple of Government backbenchers that the Government intends to do urgency next sitting week. Could she confirm if that’s true?

Hon LOUISE UPSTON: I know there’s lots of excitement about the final two weeks of the House sitting. What I can tell the member is that we will not be introducing legislation that increases tax. [Interruption]

Considering that we have seen a net loss of members’ days as a result of the use of urgency, does the Leader of the House expect for there to be a members’ day in the next sitting block?
