Responding to Abuse in Care Legislation Amendment Bill
Members, we now come to our final debate, on clauses 1 and 2. This is the debate on clauses 1 and 2, “Title” and “Commencement”.
Kia ora, Mr Chair. Just a final contribution from the Labour caucus this morning: there are some things that we would have liked to see amended, but, on the whole, we support the progress of this legislation and thank you for the engagement of Ministers. Really, that’s all I have to say, because I think it’s time for us to move forward and, I think, to be collegial in this. We support what the Ministers have presented and, as I say, we would have liked to see a few changes. We will continue to support it moving forward, so that we can continue to address the harm and ensure it never happens again.
