Members, the weather situation around the country is getting worse and a local state of emergency has been declared for Canterbury. In order to assist members to be able to return to their electorates safely, parties have discussed removing the limit on proxy votes for the rest of this week. Therefore, I seek leave that the limit on proxy votes does not apply until the House adjourns on Thursday, 23 October and that Standing Order 146 be read accordingly. Is there any objection to that course of action? There is none.

SPEAKER: Yeah, and so the effect of what I’ve just said is that there is no limit on proxy votes up until the close of play tomorrow.
