Urgent Debates Declined — Royal Commission of Inquiry into Historic Abuse in State Care and in the Care of Faith-based Institutions—Progress on Implementation of Recommendations

Members, I have received a letter from the Hon Willow-Jean Prime seeking to debate under Standing Order 399 the lack of progress on the recommendations from the royal commission’s Report into Historic Abuse in State Care and in the Care of Faith-based Institutions. Even if I accepted the member’s opinion on the implementation of the recommendations of the royal commission, the absence of action on the part of the Government is not a particular case of recent occurrence that can be raised for urgent debate. I refer members to Speakers’ ruling 222/4. The application is declined.
