📅 Recorded under the Tuesday, 25 March 2025 session - Hansard's own transcript for this session runs through to Wednesday, 26 March 2025, so this debate may really have happened on a later date within that range rather than on 25 March itself - we can't tell which exact date from Hansard's own record of it.
📝 Hansard marked this day's transcript "Corrected" (not yet "Final") as of our last import - it may since have changed again. Check the official transcript if anything here looks off.
🗣️ Speech Hon Gerry Brownlee (New Zealand National Party — List Member)
Time unknown

Yesterday, I gave an undertaking to the Hon Kieran McAnulty to come back to him and the House about the use of the word “lie” in the House. My initial response was that no allegation of lying was directed at any particular member. While that was accurate, I wish to reiterate existing Speakers’ rulings that it is not in order to accuse members, specifically or in general, or to imply the motive of lying. It is an offence to the House as a whole—Speaker’s ruling 48/3.
