Fisheries (International Fishing and Other Matters) Amendment Bill
Members, we now come to our final debate, clauses 1 and 2. This is the debate on clauses 1 and 2, βTitleβ and βCommencementβ.
Mr Chair, thank you. Just a very quick question to the Minister for Oceans and Fisheries on clause 2, on the commencement date. Iβm assuming that the Act is coming into force six months after Royal assent to give time for preparation of some of the transition factors in this, but I just want to check with the Minister that the Minister is confident that six months is sufficient for some of the changes that are proposed in this bill.
I can assure you the billβs been through the necessary assurance processes with our Ministry for Primary Industries officials. I have no doubt that they have arrived at a professional conclusion reflected in the statute.
I move, That debate on this question now close.
Madam Speaker, the committee has considered the Fisheries (International Fishing and Other Matters) Amendment Bill and reports it without amendment. I move, That the report be adopted.
Motion agreed to.
Report adopted.
The bill is set down for third reading immediately.
