Urgent Debates Declined — Israel-Hamas Ceasefire—United Nations Security Council Resolution
Time unknown
Members, I have received applications for an urgent debate. I have received a letter from Teanau Tuiono seeking to debate under Standing Order 399 a resolution of the United Nations Security Council calling for an immediate ceasefire between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip, and the release of all hostages.
For there to be an urgent debate, there must be administrative or ministerial responsibility for the case of recent occurrence; Speakers’ ruling 216/4. There is no ministerial or administrative responsibility for a resolution of the United Nations. The Government cannot answer to the House about a body for which it is not responsible. The application is therefore declined.
