🗣️ Speech Sir Rt Hon Trevor Mallard (New Zealand Labour Party — List Member)
Time unknown

I have also received letters from Simon Court and Barbara Kuriger seeking to debate under Standing Order 399 the widespread power outages on the evening of 9 August. This is a particular case of recent occurrence for which there is ministerial responsibility. Confidence in the electricity supply is a significant matter and there is no other reasonably foreseeable opportunity to debate it. I must consider whether the subject of the urgent debate warrants setting aside the business of the House today. In light of the time taken on the special debate today, the ministerial statement, and the Olympics motion, I’ve decided that I will consider the applications tomorrow in the context of business before the House at that time.
