I feel compelled to stand and speak very briefly on this particular part, just to acknowledge the contribution of the Hon Ruth Dyson in bringing this matter to the House. This particular change—and especially amending section 7A to the Rates Rebate Act—allows retirement village residents who are eligible to apply for a rates rebate, and that is going to make a substantial difference to people’s lives. I know that if Ruth wasn’t busy with important business, she would probably make a contribution herself. So on that basis, here on this side of the Chamber we just wanted to acknowledge her contribution.
