Business Statement

The debate on the Prime Minister’s statement will conclude on Wednesday, 20 February. Legislation to be considered next week will include the Taxation (Annual Rates for 2018-19, Modernising Tax Administration, and Remedial Matters) Bill, the Social Workers Registration Legislation Bill, the Crimes Amendment Bill, and the Accident Compensation Amendment Bill. At 5.45 p.m. on Wednesday, Agnes Loheni will make her maiden statement.

I thank the Leader of the House for that indication of work ahead. Can I just take this opportunity to thank the Government for the rapid answering of questions that were outstanding. That’s been most helpful—thank you. But I would like to know if the Government, given the current state of foreign relations, has any intention to pass the Autonomous Sanctions Bill in the near future.

With regard to the first part of the member’s comment, can I thank him for that. Can I note that I’ve been advised this morning that this may be the first time ever that there have been no overdue written parliamentary questions in the system. With regard to the second part of his statement, we don’t intend to progress that next week.

Well, I want to add my thanks to the members for discovering that they can do what was regarded as impossible.
