I seek leave for the House to rise for the evening at the conclusion of the Rt Hon Bill English’s valedictory statement on Thursday. Reflecting on similar such events in the past, I think it’s unlikely the House will make much progress with the rest of the afternoon if we don’t follow that course of action.
