I seek leave to move a motion without notice or debate expressing concern at the detention of Opposition party leaders, academics, and union representatives in Fiji.
💬 Mr SPEAKER: Is there any objection to that course of action being followed? There is none.
I move, That this House express its concern at the detention of Opposition party leaders, academics, and union representatives in Fiji over the weekend, noting that their alleged offence was to have held a public meeting about Fiji’s constitution without a police permit, and express support for the efforts of Fijian citizens to exercise their right to freedom of expression and assembly.
Motion agreed to.
