I seek leave to move a motion without notice or debate on the nomination of the Rt Hon Helen Clark for the position of Secretary-General of the United Nations.

💬 Mr SPEAKER: Leave is sought for that course of action. Is there any objection? There is none.

I move, That this House express its support for the Rt Hon Helen Clark’s announcement that she will stand for the UN Secretary-General role this year. I note that she has been an exceptional head of the UN Development Programme and brings her experience as a leader of a country, and that she is, and always has been, a trailblazer, following a long line of Kiwi women who have broken through the glass ceiling.

Motion agreed to.
