I regret to inform the House of the death on 17 August 2015 of the Hon George Frederick Gair CMG, QSO, who represented the North Shore electorate from 1966 to 1990. From 1972 to 1984 he held a number of portfolios, including Minister of Health, Minister of Social Welfare, and Minister of Transport. I desire, on behalf of this House, to express our sense of the loss we have sustained and our sympathy for the relatives of the late former member. I now ask members to stand with me and observe a period of silence as a mark of respect for his memory.
