Points of Order — Speakers and Presiding Officers—Treatment of New Zealand First

I raise a point of order, Mr Speaker. I seek to raise a point of order at the first available opportunity to me. It concerns a comment made in this House on 29 July that was unparliamentary and requires an apology. The comment said was recorded on the parliamentary tape. I have heard it, and I seek an apology from you for the comments that you made.

The only trouble is that the comment was not made by me. These microphones that I operate with are live microphones. I assured the House at the time that I never made that comment, and I stand by that statement again today.

I raise a point of order, Mr Speaker. Perhaps then you could tell me who it was who made the comment: “Oh, shut up, Winston.”

No, I do not intend to, but if the member takes time to think about the seating in the House—[Interruption] Order! If the member takes time to think about the seating in the House and listens very carefully to the transcript he has recorded, I am sure he will come up with the correct answer.

My question is to the Prime Minister—[Interruption]
