Heritage New Zealand Pouhere Taonga Bill
This is a very short part. It establishes, as one would expect, the purposes and the principles of the Act; sets out a very carefully drafted Treaty clause, which I suggest to the Committee is a much better model for Treaty clauses than some generic Treaty clause; and, obviously, states that the Act binds the Crown. There is also Supplementary Order Paper 444, which amends a number of definitions—for example, “working day” Mondayises Waitangi Day and Anzac Day in accordance with the recent Holidays Amendment Act. The other definitions are minor and inconsequential.
The question was put that the amendments set out on Supplementary Order Paper 444 in the name of the Hon Christopher Finlayson to Part 1 be agreed to.
Amendments agreed to.
