Motions — United Nations Security Council—New Zealand’s Candidature
I seek leave for a non-debatable notice of motion No. 14 in my name supporting New Zealand’s bid for a non-permanent seat on the UN Security Council.
💬 Mr SPEAKER: Leave is sought for that course of action. Is there any objection? There appears to be none.
H V ROSS ROBERTSON: I move, That this House support New Zealand’s candidature for a non-permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council for the 2015-2016 term and note the important contribution made by New Zealand in its last term on the Council in 1993-1994; and express the determination that New Zealand will again be a distinctive, independent, principled voice on the Council, and will bring to that Council the qualities for which it is known at the United Nations, namely those of a small, diverse country which listens to others and is a fair-minded and reliable partner in world affairs.
Motion agreed to.
