Families Commission Amendment Bill

I am not sure I am going to get through my speech before the bell goes tonight either. However, just to go back to what I was saying before I was interrupted, we were looking at the Families Commission, the work that had been done before the changes that are in this Families Commission Amendment Bill, and particularly the changes and their impact on evaluation and research.

I am making a case that the changes under this bill will mean that there will be a loss of independence in the research that will be compiled around the Family Status Report. This is particularly important when we look at how the committees are being set up—in particular, the expert advisory committee. We do not believe that this bill will actually benefit families and children the way the commission has.
