Business Statement

When the House resumes on Tuesday, 16 April the Government will look to progress the Immigration Amendment Bill, the Legal Assistance (Sustainability) Amendment Bill, the Plumbers, Gasfitters, and Drainlayers Amendment Bill, and the Crown Minerals (Permitting and Crown Land) Bill. On Wednesday, 17 April—effectively Thursday, 18 April—with the agreement of the Business Committee the House will have extended hours for the second reading and the Committee stages of the Ngāti Whātua o Kaipara Claims Settlement Bill and the Waitaha Claims Settlement Bill. On Thursday afternoon the House will hold a debate on Pacific issues. Wednesday is a members’ day.

Has the Leader of the House had any indication from the Prime Minister as to the timing of the proposed new security legislation?

The Prime Minister will want to discuss that with other members of the Intelligence and Security Committee so that there can be a general comfort that the issues that need to be covered are covered in those bills.
