🗣️ Speech Hon Jacqui Dean (New Zealand National Party — Member for Waitaki)
Time unknown

Supplementary Order Paper 150 proposes that clause 3 of the Waitaki District Council Reserves and Other Land Empowering Bill be amended to “delete the definition of Lookout Point land” from the bill. The effect that that would have is that Lookout Point, or the Forrester Heights portion of land, could not be considered as part of that bill. I think it is worth reminding the Committee and perhaps the Green member Eugenie Sage that doing that goes against the wishes of the local authority. This is the Waitaki District Council’s bill. This is not a Government bill. This is not a member’s bill. This is a local authority bill. The local authority wishes to have this matter dealt with in Parliament, which is why it brought it to us. What the Supplementary Order Paper does really is perhaps satisfy the wishes of the Green Party, but this bill is not about the wishes of the Green Party. This is a local bill. It is about what the local authority wants to do. Therefore, I will not be supporting the Supplementary Order Paper. Thank you.

The question was put that the amendment set out on Supplementary Order Paper 150 in the name of Eugenie Sage to clause 3 be agreed to.
