Financial Markets Conduct Bill
I raise a point of order, Mr Speaker. Sorry, I heard the wrong name for the bill being called. I was under the impression it was a different bill.
π¬ Mr SPEAKER: Does the member wish to changeβ
Yes, could I change the vote? It should be eight votes in favour. I am sorry; I misheard what was being called.
π¬ Mr SPEAKER: The bill being called is the Financial Markets Conduct Bill.
Yes. Sorry, I was listening to the general debate, and I did not realise that this bill had been called.
π¬ Mr SPEAKER: The record will be changed.
I raise a point of order, Mr Speaker. Does the member not have to seek leave to have a vote changed?
π¬ Mr SPEAKER: I think the member misheard the bill being called. It is not unreasonable for the vote to be recorded as the party intended.
I raise a point of order, Mr Speaker. It has been the practice in this Houseβand we had this issue come up last nightβthat until the result is given, any party can change its vote. It is only once the result is announced that you would have to have leave to change the way somebody voted.
π¬ Mr SPEAKER: I thank the junior Labour whip for hisβ
Senior Labour whip!
π¬ Mr SPEAKER: Senior whip.
π¬ Hon Annette King: Chief whip.
π¬ Mr SPEAKER: Chief whipβmy apologies.
