πŸ—£οΈ Speech Hon Steven Joyce (New Zealand National Party β€” List Member)
Time unknown

I seek leave under Standing Order 354 to make a personal explanation to correct a reply I gave to an oral question in the House yesterday in respect of current account forecasts.

πŸ’¬ Mr SPEAKER: Leave is sought for that course of action. Is there any objection? There is no objection.

Yesterday, 29 February, I stated in reply to a supplementary question on the Pre-election Economic and Fiscal Update current account deficit forecasts the following: β€œThe pre-election update last year forecast the current account deficit to widen by about just under $5 billion over the next 4 years.” The answer should have stated that the current account deficit is forecast to widen by $8.4 billion over the next 4 years. I inadvertently stated $5 billion, which is the difference over 3 years, not 4 years. I am taking this first opportunity to correct it in the House.
