Points of Order — Social Networking Site—Fake Profile
I raise a point of order, Mr Speaker. It has just been drawn to my attention that there appears to be an impersonation of a member of Parliament reported by Stuff, by way of a false Facebook page entitled “Aaron Gilmore for PM”. My question to you is whether the matter of that sort of impersonation should be brought up as privilege or whether it is a private matter.
It is certainly not a matter to be dealt with in the House right now. [Interruption] It is not a matter to be dealt with in the House, because it is not a matter to do with the proceedings of the House. But if there is a concern because a member is being impersonated in such a way, inappropriately, I am sure he or she would raise the matter with the Speaker, and the matter could be dealt with.
