I regret to inform the House of the death on 20 July 2011 of the Hon Tini Whetū Mārama Tirikātene-Sullivan ONZ, who represented the electorate of Southern Maori from 1967 to 1996. She was Minister of Tourism from 1972 to 1975, Associate Minister of Social Welfare from 1972 to 1974, and Minister for the Environment from 1974 to 1975. I desire, on behalf of this House, to express our sense of the loss we have sustained and our sympathy with the relatives of the late former member. I now ask members to stand with me and observe a period of silence as a mark of respect for her memory.
