Business Statement
Next week the House will consider a range of Government bills on the Order Paper, including the Courts and Criminal Matters Bill and the Legal Services Bill.
I seek the assurance of the Leader of the House that there will not be urgency next week and ask him whether his colleagues have noticed that he makes much more progress when he does not use urgency.
I know that my colleagues are always concerned about my progress, and so far they are very satisfied. The issue of urgency is always one that we are prepared to talk to the Opposition about, should it decide to work more than 17 hours a week.

My comment was slightly gratuitous, I agree, and not consistent with the Speakerβs demands of appropriate behaviour in the House. I can say there is no intention to have urgency in the House next week.
