Summary Proceedings Amendment Bill (No 2)
on behalf of the Minister of Justice: I move, That the Summary Proceedings Amendment Bill (No 2) be now read a second time.
For all the reasons that I referred to in my speech on the previous reading of the Summary Proceedings Amendment Bill (No 2), I commend the bill to the House.
I will take only a short call, I promise. I just wanted to make a few remarks. The first is that I was always taught a little saying: βWhat goes around comes aroundβ. The second little ditty was βGood things come to those who waitβ.
We have heard a lot about bad drafting of legislation of recent times. So let this be a salutary lesson to all of us that we can all make mistakes. In the spirit of cooperation and camaraderie and in friendship, I have great pleasure in supporting the second reading of the Summary Proceedings Amendment Bill (No 2).
