🗣️ Speech Hon Gerry Brownlee (New Zealand National Party — Member for Ilam)
Time unknown

I wonder whether, as Leader of the House, I might offer you, on behalf of the House, our best wishes and congratulations on the occasion of your receiving the title of Right Honourable from the Palace. I think that this recognises the importance of the role that you occupy, and further adds to the dignity that you have brought to that role—our congratulations, Mr Speaker.

🗣️ Speech Darren Hughes (New Zealand Labour Party — List Member)
Time unknown

The Opposition also associates itself with the kind and generous remarks of the Hon Gerry Brownlee in respect of this recognition being given to the service that you give, Mr Speaker, not only to the House but to the public and the country.

💬 Mr SPEAKER: I humbly thank all honourable members for that. I feel very humble about it.
