I regret to inform the House of the death on 3 December 2007 of Maurice John Belgrave DCNZM, who was appointed Chief Ombudsman on 1 July 2003. I desire, on behalf of this House, to express our sense of the loss we have sustained and to extend our sympathy to his family. I now ask members to stand with me and observe a period of silence as a mark of respect for his memory.
