I wish to clarify the response I gave to question No. 12 today from Katherine Rich on whether the Ministry of Education had been informed of concerns about the behaviour of the principal of Hato Pāora College. I replied I was unaware of such concerns, but would check it out. I have now done so and I can confirm that two emails were received in my office from an individual claiming that he had raised concerns about the principal of Hato Pāora College during the appointment process by the board of trustees. I cannot attest to the validity or otherwise of the information contained in the emails. However my office has referred the emails to the Ministry of Education and has requested a full report on this matter. I understand that the person who sent the emails to my office is in touch with the police, who are, of course, the competent authority to deal with these matters.
