I have received the following letter, dated 16 May 2007 and addressed to the Hon Margaret Wilson, Speaker of the House of Representatives, c/o the Office of the Clerk, Parliament Buildings: “Dear Madam Speaker, I write to advise that I have today resigned from the United Future party, but will stay in Parliament as an independent member. [Standing Order 34/4]. Yours sincerely, Gordon Copeland MP.”
