Speaker’s statement — Election Advertising—Reimbursement of Expenditure

In my report to Parliament, under section 65Z of the Public Finance Act 1989, on the 12 October I stated I would require the parties to report to me on whether they intend to reimburse the unlawful expenditure. All parties, except New Zealand First, have indicated they will be reimbursing the expenditure. New Zealand First has indicated it needs more time to receive legal advice on the reports, but will inform me as soon as possible of its intention once it receives that advice. Once I have received that notification, I will report to the House.
