Building (Late Consent is a Free Consent) Amendment Bill
Under Standing Order 71, there is an option to postpone the bill. Looking at Speaker’s ruling 23/1, I move, That the Building (Late Consent is a Free Consent) Amendment Bill in the name of the Hon Dr Nick Smith be postponed until 6 September, being the next members’ day, which the Standing Orders and Speakers’ rulings provide for.
I assume the chief Opposition Whip is doing this on the basis that the member in charge of the bill is not present to move the motion for the first reading. The bill would be deferred until the next members’ sitting day?
