Business Statement

Next week the House will go into a 2-week adjournment. When the House resumes on Tuesday, 13 June, priority will be given to the Housing Restructuring and Tenancy Matters (Information Matching) Amendment Bill, the New Zealand Superannuation and Veterans’ Pensions (Entitlements of Spouses and Partners of People in Long-term Residential Care and Remedial Matters) Bill, the Historic Places Amendment Bill, the Protected Objects Amendment Bill, and the Coroners Bill. The first Wednesday, of course, will be a members’ day.

I thank the Leader of the House for that indication of the House’s future business. I wonder whether he might tell us whether the Electoral (Integrity) Amendment Bill, which is currently sitting below the line on the Order Paper but is available to the Government when the House resumes, will be debated by the full House some time in the next sitting, or will it become like the Conservation (Protection of Trout as a Non-commercial Species) Amendment Bill, which has been on the Order Paper for many years now?

That bill bears no relationship to the protection of trout! I am sure that when we do debate that bill it will be debated by the full House. We will determine when that will be at some point in the future.
