🗣️ Speech Lindsay Tisch (New Zealand National Party — Member for Piako)
Time unknown

I understand that the House will go into urgency on Thursday. Is it the Government’s intention to seek leave for the House to sit until 12 midnight on Thursday, and not on Friday?

🗣️ Speech Hon Sir Michael Cullen (New Zealand Labour Party — List Member)
Time unknown

I had a discussion with the shadow Leader of the House this morning and suggested that it might be a sensible idea to seek leave to sit until midnight tomorrow on the assumption that probably the matter on which we are taking urgency, the Land Transport Amendment Bill, will be dealt with in that time so that members will be free to return to their electorates first thing on Friday morning. Perhaps if I could seek that leave at this point: that the sitting tomorrow night continue past 10 o’clock, to midnight.

💬 Madam SPEAKER: Leave is sought. Is there any objection? There is no objection.
