Urgent Debates Declined — Dioxin Contamination, Paritutu—Government Response
🗣️ Speech
Mr SPEAKER
Time unknown
I have received a letter from Sue Kedgley seeking to debate under Standing Order 373 the finding of above average dioxin levels in 24 Paritutu residents. The full details of this finding were made available after the House met on Thursday, so it is a particular case of recent occurrence involving the administrative responsibility of the Government. However, the results were anticipated before the House sat last Thursday, to the extent that two oral questions on this matter were lodged and answered that day. In those circumstances, I am not persuaded that there should be a special debate on it today. The application is declined.
