🗣️ Speech Mr SPEAKER
Time unknown

During the last sitting period I undertook to respond to members’ concerns about the sound system. Action is being taken to refine the sound quality from speakers in the Chamber and in the galleries, with some modifications also being made to the equipment in the broadcasting booth. At the beginning of the year members should have received information about operating the new microphones. I am having this information recirculated to members.

I would just like to repeat two main points. Once I have called the member, please pause before you speak to allow the sound technician to switch on your microphone. When speaking, members should adjust the microphones so that they are turned towards them. Please speak towards the microphone from about 20 to 30 centimetres away; if you are too close to the microphone, sound distortion may result.
