Amended answers to Oral Questions β Question No. 4 to Minister, 2 March
In answer to a primary question in the House on Tuesday, I said, on the advice of New Zealand Trade and Enterprise, that the cost of an October 2002 trip to Tongariro by Brunswick Corporationβs chief executive officer, George Buckley, was $4,393.34 GST exclusive, and that the total cost of the 2002 visit, which resulted in a $56.1 million investment in Navman New Zealand Ltd and other multimillion-dollar New Zealand - based investments, was $20,041.35. I have been advised by New Zealand Trade and Enterprise this afternoon that these figures were incorrect as they inadvertently omitted a $239.50 reimbursement to Brunswick Corporation for a deposit paid to the Tongariro Lodge. The correct figures should have been $4,632.84 and $20,280.85, respectively. In response to a supplementary question, I said that Navman had created 200 jobs in this country. I am now advised that the number of jobs created by Navman following the investment by Brunswick Corporation is actually more than 200, but that number consists of 63 jobs created in New Zealand, with the balance of jobs in France, Italy, Belgium, and Germany, where Navman has since opened offices, and in Australia, the United States, and the United Kingdom, where Navman has expanded its existing offices.
I raise a point of order, Mr Speaker. Can I seek the assurance of the Minister that he will also be correcting his written replies to questions?
π¬ Mr SPEAKER: The Hon Jim Anderton indicated βYesβ to that.
The House adjourned at 5.37 p.m.
