🗣️ Speech
Mr SPEAKER
Time unknown
I have also received a letter from Mr Prebble seeking to debate the Government’s policy on the foreshore and seabed. At this point there is no particular case of recent occurrence on which a debate can be granted. The letter asserts that the media has reported that a policy went to Cabinet on Monday and to the Government caucus this morning. Whether or not that is correct, an urgent debate cannot be granted on the basis of newspaper speculation. An event occurs at the time it is announced; I draw members’ attention to Speaker’s ruling 25/2 (Supplement). That application is also declined.
