Smoke-free Environments Amendment Bill

Under Standing Order 71, I want to move that members’ order of the day No. 1 be postponed until the first members’ day after 1 March 2004.

I raise a point of order, Mr Speaker. I am aware that the Leader of the House is to move some motions a little later on that will have the impact of making some change in the order of that debate. My understanding is that as the Leader of the House, his motions will take precedence over mine. If I can have your assurance that I can move this motion at a later time I certainly will do so, but the reason for seeking to move it now is to ensure that the opportunity to move it is not lost.

I raise a point of order, Mr Speaker. This is just a very quick point of clarification: does that decision therefore mean that I cannot move the motion again at the time that that order of the day is called?
