I move, That the order of the day for the Committee stage of the Smoke-free Environments Amendment Bill be discharged, and that the bill be referred to the Health Committee for further consideration.

πŸ—£οΈ Speech Peter Dunne (United Future New Zealand β€” Member for Ohariu-Belmont)
Time unknown

I raise a point of order, Mr Speaker. During that vote there were two interjections from Ms Kedgley alleging that United Future members supporting that vote were the hand of the tobacco industry and in the pocket of the tobacco industry. I make the point to you that that, firstly, is grossly untrue and without any foundation whatsoever, and, secondly, has been the subject of a matter raised when a group outside this Parliament made a similar allegation that went before the Privileges Committee, because a breach of privilege was held to be established. The member is grossly out of order, and I request that she be asked to withdraw and apologise.

πŸ’¬ Mr SPEAKER: I did not hear the remark. Did the member make that remark?

πŸ’¬ Sue Kedgley: I raise a point of order, Mr Speakerβ€”

πŸ’¬ Mr SPEAKER: I asked whether the member made those remarks.

πŸ’¬ Sue Kedgley: I made one of those remarks.

πŸ’¬ Mr SPEAKER: In that case, the member will withdraw and apologise for any such communication.

πŸ’¬ Sue Kedgley: I did not say what he said, but I will withdraw and apologise. I did not say exactly what he suggested.

πŸ’¬ Mr SPEAKER: The member just says: β€œI withdraw and apologise.” Please say that.

πŸ’¬ Sue Kedgley: I withdraw and apologise.
