Electoral (Vacancies) Amendment Bill

I move, That it be an instruction to the Committee of the whole House on the Electoral (Vacancies) Amendment Bill that it take the bill part by part and consider any schedules as one question.

I raise a point of order, Mr Speaker. It has just occurred to me: I am sure that the House is very grateful that you are abstaining, but what happens in the Committee stage? Will your abstention be recorded in some fashion?

I know that you will not be present.

💬 Mr SPEAKER: I intend to maintain that position.

We really appreciate that.

💬 Mr SPEAKER: I actually have the right to be present during the Committee stage—in the voting lobby.
