Business Statement

Next week in the House the main items of business will be the remaining stages of the State Sector Amendment Bill; the first readings of the Diplomatic Privileges and Immunities Amendment Bill, the Lawyers and Conveyancers Bill, the Railways Bill, and the Civil Aviation Amendment Bill; and the second reading of the Crown Minerals Amendment Bill. Wednesday is a members’ day. Moana Mackey will be sworn in on Tuesday, and it is expected that her maiden speech will be on Wednesday.

I raise a point of order, Mr Speaker. Even if the National Party does not want to ask some questions about next week’s business, I would like to do so. I would like to have an assurance from the Leader of the House that we will not have a bill presented to the House, with regard to Mr Duynhoven, before the Privileges Committee has considered the matter and reported back to the House.

Certainly I have no intention of introducing legislation before the Privileges Committee has considered the matter.
