Personal Explanations — Hemana Waaka—Commentary
I thank the House for allowing me this opportunity to make a personal explanation. I feel a little like Jonny Wilkinson after having missed a kick from halfway. Yesterday, I stated that Hemana Waaka did not commentate the game between Australia and New Zealand Māori in Perth on 15 June 2002. I understand, through the media, that Sky Network Television has confirmed that the commentary did take place on that day. I apologise for my error.
I raise a point of order, Mr Speaker. When you asked if there was any objection to the member from ACT seeking leave, I heard John Tamihere say “Yes”. I am not sure how that matter was resolved. One member can deny leave.
💬 Mr SPEAKER: The matter was resolved by that member withdrawing that objection.
