Retirements — Hugh Douglas Turnbull

I move, That the House record its appreciation for the long and devoted service of Hugh Douglas Turnbull, who retires today as Assistant Compiler of Statutes, at the age of 89. I note that Mr Turnbull has worked in the Parliamentary Counsel Office on the reprinting of New Zealand legislation since 1947. He was appointed Assistant Compiler of Statutes in 1950, and in 1979 the first volume of the current reprint in the series of New Zealand Statutes was published. Mr Turnbull has been the principal compiler of that series to the present day. I think it is therefore appropriate that we express our appreciation for over half a century of work devoted to producing up to date New Zealand legislation.
